Stridulivelia quadrispinosa ( Hungerford, 1929) View in CoL

Stridulivelia quadrispinosa View in CoL was previously known from Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil (PA, AM), Peru and Bolivia ( Polhemus and Spangler 1995), and is recorded for the first time from southeastern Brazil. However, some observed features were not mentioned in the original description or on the generic revision of Polhemus and Spangler (1995), including the presence of pegs on hind trochanter, a small central projection on posterior margin of genital segment I, and acute anterolateral projections on proctiger.

It is also noted that the antennomere I / head width trough eyes ratio does not fit perfectly with that given by Polhemus and Spangler (1995) in their identification key. According to the same authors, antennomere I is as long as or shorter than head width, but the ratio measured was of 1.06–1.09 / 1.00, near that defined by Hungerford (1929 a), of 1.08 / 1.00.

The above notwithstanding, other features, such as distribution and number of spinules on the stridulatory surfaces, presence of posterolateral projections on the terminal abdominal segment (ventral in males and dorsal in females), and the shape of the male paramere permit identification of our specimens as S. quadrispinosa .
