( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 K–N, 4F)
Mycodinium pіtelkae (Bradbury, 1975) Jankowski, 2007: 880 , syn. n.
The trophont stages are found attached to the cuticular secretory setae of shrimp host. The trophont body is elongate, slender cone shaped, and enclosed in a thin and transparent cyst. Four short, straight, unciliated kineties, are longitudinally oriented on trophont middle right surface, and a similar field of six kineties on left lateral surface. Macronucleus is long, serpentine, with conspicuous endosomes, fan-shaped at distal end. Spindle-shaped micronucleus is located at left distal end of macronucleus. There is single contractile vacuole. Reproduction by successive linear palintomy forming a single tomite. Tomite is a flattened hemisphere with dorsal surface curved. Two large ventral depressions, anterior leads to cytostome. Five kineties form a ciliary fringe encircling partly the tomite lateral surface, whereas other five kineties form the ventral ciliature. Macronucleus of tomite is rod-shaped and oriented antero-posteriorly.
Measurements (in µm): Trophont length from 30 to 100, width from 18 to 27 (after Bradbury, 1975).
Type host: Crangon crangon (Linnaeus, 1758).
Type locality: Roscoff ( France).
