Lasioglossum (Lasioglossum) circularum Fan & Ebmer 1992: 346 View in CoL , 349 [Holotype: Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica, Beijing, China, ♀, type locality = Gulin (Jiangsu Prov.), China]; Ebmer 2002: 838 –839, 903 [♀, photograph]. Lasioglossum (Leuchalictus) circularum: Pesenko 2006: 140 View in CoL [in key], 141 [♂, illustration], 143 [♂, illustration], 145 [in key], 151–152 [♂].

Diagnosis. This species is similar to L. formosae (Strand) and L. occidens (Smith) from eastern Asia. It is separated from both species by the integument of the female mesoscutum with distinct tessellation, the lateral and posterior surfaces of female propodeum with dense tomentose hairs, and the tuft of hairs on the male S6 longitudinally narrow apically ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7. A – D ).

In contrast, in L. formosae and L. occides , the integument of the female mesoscutum nearly smooth, the lateral and posterior surface of female propodeum with sparse tomentose hairs, and the tuft of hairs on male S6 thick apically ( Figs. 7C View FIGURE 7. A – D , 8B View FIGURE 8. A – D ).

Specimens examined. (n = 3) [ South Korea] GW: 2♀, Gamjong-ri, Dong-myon, Chunchon-gun, 23. vii. 1992 (K. Morimoto & K. Kanmiya, ELKU); 1♂, Hongcheon, 5–6. ix. 1984 (K. Morimoto ELKU).

Distribution. South Korea (new record), China.

Flight period in South Korea. Female: July. Male: September. In China, female is collected from July to August ( Fan & Ebmer 1992) and male from September to October ( Pesenko 2006).
