Cylindrospermopsis taverae Komárek & Komárková-Legnerová (2002: 229 , 228, fig. 21)

Strains:— CHAB 143 from a small pond in Kunming City,Yun’nan Province.

Habitat:— In lakes or ponds, planktonic.

Description:— Trichomes solitary, free floating, more or less regularly screw-like coiled with one to two coils, cylindrical, constricted at cross walls, rarely in straight ( Fig. 1A–C ). Cells cylindrical to slightly barrel-shaped, rarely almost isodiametric, 5.4-8.0–13.4 μm long, 3.1–3.9–4.8 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.3–2.0–2.8), with gas vesicles, apical cells rounded at the ends. Heterocytes elongated, slightly conical, apical cells of the same width as the other cells, or slightly narrower and rounded, curved and rounded at the apex, 4.7–9.2–13.5 μm long, 3.2–4.8–6.3 μm wide (L: W ratio 1.3–2.0–3.4). Akinetes cylindrical with rounded ends, usually solitary, near the ends of trichomes, slightly distant from terminal heterocytes by 1–3 vegetative cells, 3.3–9.1–14.7 μm long, 2.8–4.3–5.4 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.1–2.1–3.1) ( Table S4).

Notes:— C. taverae differed from other Cylindrospermopsis species by its irregularly screw-like coiled trichomes, apical cells narrowed, conical, rounded at the ends, and heterocytes elongated, slightly conical, always curved and rounded at the ends.
