Members of Entoloma subgen. Leptonia are characterized by a differentiated, mostly trichodermal pileipellis, and clamped hyphae. Morozova et al. (2014) recently published an account of the Eurasian taxa based on morphology and molecular studies. Two species were discovered in the volcanic regions of Jalisco.
