Tachinus (Tachinoderus) motuoensis Chang, Li & Yin View in CoL , sp. nov. ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2 )
Chinese Common Name: Ḇḇḋñọaem
Type material. HOLOTYPE: CHINA: ♂: ‘China: Xizang, Motuo Co. (Ḇḇh), near Beibeng Village (Ṙaeø), 29°14'11"N, 95°09'54"E, 825 m, mixed leaf litter, sifted, 11.vii.2018, Cheng, Peng, & Shen leg.’ ( SNUC) GoogleMaps . PARATYPES: CHINA: 5 ♂♂, 4 ♀♀: same label data as holotype (all in SNUC) .
Diagnostic description. Male. Habitus as in Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ; TBL 3.29–3.91 mm, FBL 2.16–2.40 mm; head, pronotal disc, elytra, and abdomen black, pronotal posterolateral areas, antennomeres 1–10, mouthparts, and most parts of legs reddishbrown, antennomere11, and tarsi yellowish-brown. Head sub-triangular, HL 0.37–0.47 mm, HW 0.67–0.72 mm, with fine punctures, posterolateral margin with granulated microsculpture, posterior margin with microsculpture consisting of transverse waves; eyes prominent, EyL 0.17–0.20 mm; antenna elongate, AnL 1.75–1.92 mm, relative lengths of anten-
nomeres 1–11: 1.67: 1.16: 1.67: 1.33: 1.5: 1.5: 1.5: 1.33: 1.16: 1: 1.67. Pronotum strongly transverse, PL 0.67–0.75 mm, PW 1.17–1.27 mm, PL / PW = 0.57–0.58, without microsculpture, pronotal posterior and posterolateral areas with coarse punctures. Elytra slightly wider than long, EL 1.00– 1.05 mm, EW 1.17–1.20 mm, EL/EW = 0.85–0.87, with microsculpture consisting of small, isodiametric meshes. Abdominal surface with microsculpture consisting of transverse waves, and fine pubescence; tergite III with one pair of pruinose wing-folding patches; tergite VIII ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) with four relatively long lobes; inner lobes much longer than outer ones; sternite VII ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ) with posterior margin narrowly and relatively deeply emarginate, granules sparsely arranged in sub-rectangular area; sternite VIII ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ) with four lobes, deeply incised between inner lobes, mid-length 0.59 times as long as depth of incision. Length of aedeagus ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 D–E) 0.59 mm, parameres short and symmetric, median lobe slightly exceed the apex of parameres, broad at base and narrowing toward apex.
Female. General habitus ( Fig. 1B View FIGURE 1 ) similar to male. Measurements: TBL 3.62–3.91 mm, FBL 2.45–2.54 mm, HL 0.45–0.47 mm, HW 0.72–0.75 mm, EyL 0.20–0.22 mm, AnL 1.90–1.97 mm, PL 0.72–0.77 mm, PW 1.27–1.32 mm, PL / PW = 0.57–0.58, EL 1.12–1.17 mm, EW 1.32–1.37 mm, EL/EW = 0.84–0.85. Tergite VIII ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ) with four lobes, inner lobes slightly longer than outer ones, incision between inner lobes U-shaped; sternite VIII ( Fig. 2G View FIGURE 2 ) with six lobes, fimbriate lobes longer than others.
Comparative notes. Tachinus motuoensis is close to T. centralis Chang, Li, Yin & Schülke, 2019 in the similar form of male sternite VII, which has the granules sparsely arranged in a sub-rectangular area. The new species can be readily separated by the relatively shorter male tergite VIII and sternite VIII, the relatively deeper emargination of male sternite VII, the stouter median lobe of the aedeagus, and the inner margins of the inner lobes of female tergite VIII lacking additional processes (in T. centralis there is an additional pair of processes along the inner margins of female tergite VIII; see Chang et al. 2019: fig. 4F).
Distribution. China: Xizang.
Etymology. The new specific epithet ‘ motuoensis ’ refers to the type locality of the new species.
