Gonialaena gen. nov.
Type species: Gonialaena groehni sp. nov., herewith designated
Diagnosis. Body slender, covered with long erect and shorter suberect setae dorsally and subdecumbent ones ventrally, legs and antennae long and slender. Eyes large, transverse, elongate-oval. Apical maxillary palpomere subcylindrical. Antennae long, about 3 terminal antennomeres extend beyond base of pronotum; antennomere 1 large and wide, 1.9× as wide as antennomere 2, antennomere 11 ovoid with tapered apex, subequal in size to antennomere 10. Pronotum nearly circular with lateral margins weakly and widely emarginate in basal half; anterior margin widely rounded. Anterior angles obsolete, vaguely expressed; posterior angles distinct, orthogonal. Lateral and anterior margins of pronotum not beaded. Prosternum in front of procoxae distinctly longer than the shortest diameter of one procoxal cavity. Elytra with rounded humeral angles and with 10 moderately deep striae of circular punctures, not merged. Interstriae covered with two kinds of setae: longer erect and shorter suberect ones. Epipleura reaching sutural elytral angle, very wide basally, becoming narrow apically. Metathoracic wings not present. Intercoxal process of abdominal ventrite 1 narrowly rounded apically. Narrow intersegmental membranes are present between 3–5 abdominal ventrites. Legs with long sparse erect setae and shorter denser subrecumbent hairs. Penultimate tarsomere not bilobed, insertion of terminal tarsomere central with regard the slightly cupuliform penultimate tarsomere (as in many Lagriinae ; see Matthews & Bouchard (2008)).
Etymology. The name derives from the genera Goniadera Perty, 1832 and Laena Dejean, 1821 (Latin) . Gender feminine.
Included species. The new genus at present only includes the type species.
