Remarks. Lectotype designated by Clench & Turner (1950). The report of this species from Italy by Grillo (1877) is a misidentification. The name Cerithium nigrocinctum hides a complex of species, and its true range is limited to southeastern Canada to the southern U.S.A. (M.R. Fernandes, pers. com. January 2020). The record from Florida, United States, by Lee (2009) is a misidentfication of Triphoris dupliniana Olsson, 1916 ( Fernandes & Pimenta 2020).
