Diagnosis. Larvae with the following features (n= 2): fnTi: 6-5-5; fnTa: 18-13-13; fζ: 2-0-0; SD: 96; Leg I 227– 256; Leg II 201–208; Leg III 218–220; IP 655–675.

Type. The holotype (HH 2011029-1) and paratype (HH 2011029-2) were collected from Opatroides punctulatus Brullé, 1832 (Tenebrionidae) , host captured using a light trap on 9 February 2011, by H. Hajiqanbar around Iranshahr city, Sistan and Baluchestan province. The parasitic larvae were attached on the abdominal tergites beneath the elytra. The holotype and host insect are deposited in the Acarological Collection, Faculty of Agriculture, Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran. The paratype is deposited in the Acarological Collection, Jalal Afshar Zoological Museum, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tehran, Karaj, Iran.

Description (n= 2). Milky white colour when alive. Idiosoma oval, 247–251 long, 123–126 wide, dorsal surface with a scutum, a scutellum, a pair of ocular sclerites and 30 barbed dorsal setae ( Fig. 8). Scutum drop-shape with convex anterior and posterior margins; AM setae nude and spine-like; AL and PL setae bifid; PL setae anterolateral to sensillary setae (S); AL setae between AM and PL setae; S long, slender, with setules in distal half. Scutum and scutellum striated and punctate. Scutellum wider than long, with two bifid setae, anterior margin convex in lateral parts and concave in median part, posterior margin slightly convex ( Fig. 8).

A pair of eye platelets posterolateral to scutum. Eye platelet 19 long and 10 wide. Anterior and posterior eyes 5 in diameter. All dorsal setae barbed, blunted and on platelets ( Fig. 8).

Ventral opisthosoma with 34 barbed setae posterior to coxae III and anus. All ventral setae pointed and on platelets ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ). NDV= 30+34= 64.

Podosoma with a pair of barbed intercoxal setae (3a), 19 long. Coxae I–III punctate, right coxa I with 6 bifid (right coxa I in paratype with 5 bifid setae) and left coxa I with 5 bifid setae; setae 1b1, 1 b 2 and 1b3 10 long; setae 1b 4 and 1b5 9, and setae 1b6 8long. Right coxa II with 3 and left coxa II with 4 bifid setae (left coxa II in paratype with 3 bifid setae); one barbed seta on each side; setae 2b1, 2 b 3 and 2b4 9 long, and 2b2 8 long. Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the country of origin, Iran.

Remarks. Silphitrombium iranicum sp. nov. differs from S. furculigerum in the longer SB (42–44 vs. 33–34) and number of normal setae on Ta I (18 vs. 15), Ta II (13 vs. 15), number of eupathidia on Ta I (2 vs. 3), scutum striated (vs. smooth), number of setae on palpal tibia (3 vs. 2) and number of setae on palptarsus (6 vs. 7). In addition, S. iranicum sp. nov. differs from S. elateridum sp. nov. in the shorter AA (7–8 vs. 46–50), MA (39–40 vs. 50–57), ASB (74–80 vs. 93–97), SB (42–44 vs. 57), AM (9–10 vs. 34–36), Fe III (30–33 vs. 51–52), Leg II (201– 208 vs. 239–240), Leg III (218–220 vs. 264–274), SD (89–96 vs. 112–113), W (75–81 vs. 95–96), longer AP (21 vs. 13–14), number of normal setae on Cx I (5–6 vs. 3–4), Ta I (18 vs. 17) and shape of scutum and scutellum.
