This is one of the largest genera of Phlaeothripinae , with 129 species listed worldwide (Mound 2012). These thrips are usually found on dead branches, although some are associated with leaf litter. Inter and intra-specific variation in the genus is discussed briefly by Mound et al. (1976), and at one time this genus was listed under the name Phlaeothrips ( Kloet & Hincks 1964) . One unknown species was recorded from Iran by Jalali Sandi et al. (2011). One male of an unidentified species of the genus has been studied.

Material studied. Iran, Anzali, Mazandaran Province, 1 male, from Poa sp., 10.ix.2004 (KM).
