Type material. Holotype: Ƥ, INDONESIA, Irian Jaya: Mankowari Province, Vandammen Bay, Wondiwoi, Mt. Wasior, 300–900 m, 3 January 2001, leg. A. Riedel ( MHNG, Sys-15). Paratype: 1Ƥ, same data as holotype ( MHNG).
Diagnosis. The female of S. scapigera sp. nov. can be recognized by the presence of a scapus on the epigyne of female.
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the presence of a scapus on the female epigyne.
Description. Female (holotype): Total length 10.92. Prosoma 5.02 long, 3.52 wide. Opisthosoma 5.90 long, 3.26 wide. Leg formula: 4123; I 9.90 (2.82, 1.42, 2.74, 1.84, 1.08); II 9.40 (2.78, 1.42, 2.42, 1.80, 0.98); III 9.04 (3.14, 1.02, 1.92, 2.02, 0.94); IV 13.34 (3.72, 1.48, 2.98, 3.42, 1.74). Spination. Femora: I d1-1-1, p1-1-0, r1-1-0; II d1-1-1, p0-1-1, r0-1-1; III d1-1-1, p0-1-1, r1-1-1; IV d1-1-1, p1-1-1, r0-1-1. Tibiae: I v2-1 -1; II v0-1-1; III p1-1-0, r1-1-0, v2-2 -2; IV p1-1-1, r1-1-0, v2-2 -2. Metatarsi: II v1 -0-0; III p1-1-1, r1-1-1, v2-1 -1; IV p1-1-2, r1-1-2, v2-2 -2. Eye size and interdistances: AME 0.15, ALE 0.12, PME 0.11, PLE 0.10; AME–AME 0.18, AME–ALE 0.15, PME–PME 0.24, PME–PLE 0.18, ALE–PLE 0.14; MOA 0.26 long, anterior width 0.38, posterior width 0.36.
Genitalia ( Figs 41–42 View FIGURES 38 – 42 ). Epigynal plate lightly sclerotized, elongate-oval, with large median scapus. Anterior bursae sclerotized, oval, provided with rather long posterior ducts. Single pair of spermathecae, spherical. Fertilization ducts acuminated.
Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Irian Jaya.
