Oxysarcodexia bikini Dodge, 1966 View in CoL
( Figs 57–59 View FIGURES 51–59 )
Oxysarcodexia bikini Dodge, 1966: 685 View in CoL ; Chile. Holotype male and female allotype in UCC, one male and two female paratypes in WSU, one male paratype in MSU (none examined).
Diagnosis. [Based on the original description by Dodge (1966), the diagnosis provided by Lopes (1973a), and the examination of one specimen (as specified below) in suboptimal condition (greased pollinosity obscuring the original color, T5 partially broken, ST5 missing, and terminalia in glycerin).] Male. Length 7.5–9.0 mm. Postocular plate with silvery pollinosity. Ocellar bristles weakly developed. Thorax and abdomen with silvery pollinosity. Three well-differentiated post-sutural dorsocentral bristles; one smaller bristles can be present among them.Apical scutellar bristles present. Legs blackish. T3 with 2 pairs of lateral marginal bristles, T4 with 1 pair of median marginal and 3 pairs of lateral marginal bristles. ST5 reddish yellow with short arms. Cercus straight in lateral view, with expanded obliquely cut apex and dorsal subapical barb. Cercus with bristles ventrally absent only on middle portion. Cerci with distal third narrower than middle part in posterior view; parallel and with a distinct constriction mid length. Pregonite and postgonite both with expanded base, gradually narrowing to apex; unicolorous. Distiphallus with rounded apex and sinuous dorsal outline. Juxta with serrated margin of ventroapical concavity. Vesica symmetrical; distal lobes reduced, rounded, sclerotized, with spines.
Remarks. Lopes (1973a) included Oxysarcodexia bikini in the paulistanensis group due to similarities such as lobes of vesica with apical spines and ventroapical concavity of distiphallus with serrated margin, which are shared with O. injuncta , O. paulistanensis and O. riograndensis ( Figs 58 View FIGURES 51–59 , 149 View FIGURES 148–156 , 214 View FIGURES 210–218 , 242 View FIGURES 237–243 ). Dodge (1966) and Lopes (1973a) showed that O. bikini is a member of the group with females having undivided T7, as proposed by Tibana & Mello (1985). See also remarks under O. augusta .
Distribution. NEOTROPICAL. Argentina (Neuquén, Chubut), Chile (La Araucanía, Santiago *).
