Material examined. Mauritania: MAURIT0811, stn 5, 21 °12.7'N, 18°45.4'E, 1699 m, 18.XI.2008, 1 ovigerous female, 173 × 158 mm (IEO-CD-MR08/761); MAURIT0811, stn 13, 20 °31.7'N, 18°03.3'E, 1835 m, 21.XI.2008, 1 ovigerous female, 152 × 147 mm (IEO-CD-MR08/762).

Distribution. The species is distributed in northwestern and northeastern Atlantic waters. In the Eastern Atlantic, it presence has been reported in European waters, from Greenland and Iceland to the Bay of Biscay, and in the Canary and Cape Verde islands in the south, at 1267–3000 m (Macpherson 1988a). This material contributes with new records off West Africa, from Mauritanian waters, at depths between 1699 and 1835 m.
