Tephritomyi a lauta (Loew, 1869) View in CoL

Found at all altitudes, up to 1400 m. ex Echinops viscosus : 2M and 2F, Ghazze, West Beqaa Co. (Beqaa Valley); 4M and 2F, Jamhour, Baabda Co. (Mount Lebanon); 2M and 2F, Knat, Bsharri Co. (North Lebanon); 3M and 3F, Hasroun, Bsharri Co. (North Lebanon); 3M, Ilat, Akkar Co. (North Lebanon); 67M and 69F, El Qalamoun, Tripoli Co. (North Lebanon).

Tephritomyia lauta View in CoL , which was common throughout the summer at all altitudes, only infested the heads of E. viscosus View in CoL . This is a monophagous species, restricted to Echinops spp. ( Neuenschwander and Freidberg, 1983; Freidberg and Kugler, 1989). Its distribution in Asia includes Greece, Asia Minor, Iran and Israel ( Foote, 1984; Freidberg and Kugler, 1989).
