Sphaerophthalma [ sic.] icaris Cameron, 1895 . Biol. Cent.-Amer., Hym. 2:360. Holotype female, Nicaragua, Chontales (Janzen) (No. 15.813) [BMNH] (examined).
Diagnosis of Female. This species is defined by the following unique combination of characters. The antennal scrobe of this species is not carinate, but the gena is distinctly carinate. The mesosoma is much longer than it is broad, and tapers posteriorly. A scutellar scale is lacking. The antenna is reddish. Tergum II has four ferruginous maculae; the front two are very far forward and nearly coalesce. Aside from the antenna and the maculae on tergum II, the integument is entirely black. The body is coarsely punctate. The setae are relatively sparse and yellow/gold in color.
Male. Unknown.
Distribution. Nicaragua.
Remarks. This species is known only from the holotype.
