Material examined. Stn. AZU — 22.i.2008, S02 (5 m): several fertile colonies, up to 11.5 cm high (MHNG- INVE-79635). Stn. YBU — 26.iv.2011, S14 (20 m): several sterile colonies, up to 13 cm high, on dead gorgonian.
Distribution in Chile. Often recorded from an area encompassing the Reloncaví Sound and the gulfs of Ancud and Corcovado ( Hartlaub 1905, Jäderholm 1910, Leloup 1974, present study). Also recorded from the Strait of Magellan ( Hartlaub, 1905, Vervoort 1972), but possibly widely-spread along the whole Chilean coast.
World records. Near cosmopolitan ( Vervoort & Watson 2003).
