Figures 1 View FIGURE 1 A, 2, 9A–B, Map 1
Description. Male. Body large, macropterous. Fastigium verticis narrower than scape of antenna, protruding forwards, with an obviously longitudinal median furrow. Occiput with a weak longitudinal carina. Eyes spherical, obviously protruding; ocelli distinct, median ocellus, oval, and two lateral ocelli, nearly circular. Disc of pronotum smooth, posterior transverse sulcus comparatively distinct; lateral lobes longer than high; humeral sinus distinct. Prosternum with 1 pair of spine-shaped processes; mesoternum with 1 pair of digitiform processes; mesosternum with 1 pair of triangular processes, the basal area nearly connected. Tegmina and hind wings long, distinctly surpassing apices of hind femora. Dorsal surface of all femora smooth, unarmed. Fore and middle coxae with 1 spine separately. Fore femur equipped with 3 or 5 small spines on internal side of ventral surface and unarmed on external side, apices of genicular lobes obtusely rounded; tibial tympana open on both sides, and slightly swollen nearby, fore tibia with 1 long spine on internal side of dorsal surface and unarmed on external side, ventral surface with 4 pairs of spines, arrayed almost symmetrically, with 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 1 pair of ventral apical spurs. Middle femur equipped with 7 small spines on internal side and 2 or 4 small spines on external side of ventral surface, apices of genicular lobes with 1 small spine or not; tibia with 3 spines on internal side and 2 spines on external side of dorsal surface, and 4 pairs of spines of ventral surface, apices with 2 dorsal and 2 ventral apical spurs. Hind femur with obviously pinnate stripes on external side of dorsal surface and poorly developed on ventral surface, equipped with 3–5 small spines on internal margin and 5–7 spines on external margin of ventral surface, apices of genicular lobes with 1 small spine; tibia with 10 or 11 spines on internal and external sides of dorsal surface separately, and 1 spine and 3 spines on internal and external sides of ventral surface separately, with 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 3 pairs of ventral apical spurs.
Ninth abdominal tergite arched, with 2 slightly swollen and sclerotized dark lobes; tenth abdominal tergite with 2 short sclerotized hooks widely separated which upturned over the lobes of ninth abdominal tergite. Epiproct large, triangular; paraproct specialized, with 2 long sclerotized processes which directing upwards. Cerci long, distinctly surpassing posterior margin of subgenital plate, cylindrical, not bifurcated, stout at the base, narrowing, covering with dense hairs. Subgenital plate nearly trapezoid, basal area broad, the other part almost rectangle, posterior margin nearly straight, with a narrow notch in the middle, about one third of the length of subgenital plate. Styli developed, longer, with a longitudinal groove on ventral surface.
Female. It is similar to male in appearance. Body larger. Cerci long, nearly conical. Basal half of subgenital plate nearly triangular, apex acute. Ovipositor upcurved, narrowing, apex obtusely rounded.
Coloration. Body dark brown. Vertex with a longitudinal darkish brown median stripe. Occiput brown. Eyes yellowish brown, with some black spots; ocelli yellow. Antennae with brownish scape and darkish brown flagellum, with many light rings of mulriple size along the entire flagellum. Pronotum brown, with some irregular yellow stripes. Tegmina yellowish brown, with some irregular black brown spots.
Mesurements (mm). Body: 6 33.1–35.1, ♀ 34.9; pronotum: 6 8.2–10.2, ♀ 9.9; hind femur: 6 26.5–28.4, ♀ 28.0; hind tibia: 6 26.3–29.0, ♀ 28.9; tegmen: 6 44–47, ♀ 49.1; ovipositor: 22.5.
Material examined. Holotype: male, Jinyunshan, Chongqing, 9 July 2002, collected by Ming Bai. Paratypes: 1 male, Dashahe, Daozhen, Guizhou, 22 August 2004, collected by Fuming Shi; 1 male, Huaping, Gulin, Guangxi, 17 August 2006, collected by Shaoli Mao; 1 male, Dalaoling, Yichang, Hubei, 26 July 2010, collected by Yanfei Huang; 1 male, Bangliang, Jingxi, Guangxi, 6 August 2010, collected by Xun Bian; 1 female, Baishaogou, Suiyang, Guizhou, 17 August 2010, collected by Liying Guo.
Discussion. The male of the new species resembles Pteranabropsis carnarius Gorochov, 1998 , but differs from the latter in: disc of pronotum with some distinct dark-brown stripes and a few yellow-brown spots; frons bearing some large dark-brown spots; styli with a longitudinal groove on ventral surface; the notch of subgenital plate deeper than the latter.
Distribution. China (Hubei, Guangxi, Chongqing, Guizhou).
Etymology. This new specific name is derived from the character of male subgenital plate.
