Type Series. Holotype male: COSTA RICA. San Jose Province. San Antonio de Escazú, N 98539300, W 848099 . 25 May–9 April 1984, 1,650 m, malaise trap (S. A. Cameron ) (in CMNC) . Paratypes: PANAMA. Chiriqui Province. 20 km N Guajaca, Finca Suiza , 1,350 m, 088399N. 828129W , 24. V –9. VI .1995 , #154, J. Ashe & R. Derivation of Name. The specific epithet is derived from a combination of a part of each of the names of Costa Rica and Panama, two countries in which the species lives, and is used as a noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. The long antenna, constriction before the aedeagus tip in dorsal view, and spermatheca shape distinguish the species.
Description. Shape elongate oval. Body length 4.0–4.2 mm, body width 2.0 mm. Color uniform dark brown. Antenna long ( Fig. 17 View Figs ), reaching beyond base of pronotum when laid back; segments 1–7 longer than wide. Pronotum widest at base, with fine dense transverse striae. Elytra with fine dense oblique striae. Flight wings functional. Mesosternal carina present, of medium development in profile. Aedeagus very long and thin, curved at basal third, tip elongate and slightly blunt and downcurved at tip in lateral view ( Fig. 18 View Figs ); in dorsal view constricted on both sides before tip ( Fig. 19 View Figs ). Spermatheca ( Figs. 20–21 View Figs ) shaft thin, with apical bulb and thin basal 1808 loop.
