Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 A–H; 15 B

Teudis tetrasetus Mello-Leitão, 1939: 92 , figs 85, 86 (male lectotype and immature paralectotype, designated by Forcart 1961: 64, from Bemalcue, Paraguay, 1985, Dr C. Terntz leg., deposited in MHNB, 1221 a, examined). Xiruana tetraseta: Brescovit, 1997: 104 .

Diagnosis. Males of X. tetraseta resemble those of X. silarae n. sp. by the palp with a digitiform projection at the base of the embolus, but differs by having the median tibial apophysis extremely long and by the smooth border of the conductor of Anyphaeninae ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 A, D–F). The females resemble those of X. pocone n. sp. by the shape of the epigynal plate, but differs by the very wide median septum, with the lateral ends of the anterior border projecting on the atrium and internally with a transversal, anterior sclerotized handle ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 G, H).

Description. Male ( MHNB 1221 a). Coloration as in X. hirsuta . Total length 5.7, carapace length 2.75, width 2.05. Clypeus height 0.07. Eye diameters and interdistances: AME 0.16, ALE 0.15, PME 0.16, PLE 0.15; AME– AME 0.05, AME–ALE 0.05, PME–PME 0.15, PME–PLE 0.12, ALE–PLE 0.03. Palp: retrolateral tibial apophysis with long, curved posterior branch of the retrolateral tibial apophysis and short, slender anterior branch of the prolateral tibial apophysis ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 D–F); median apophysis not projected at base ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 D–C). Abdomen: length 3.2, epigastric furrow 0.4 from tracheal spiracle, spiracle 1.5 from base of spinnerets.
