Brachysomus bonnairei Hoffmann, 1942: 14 . Type locality: Algeria, Batna
Brachysomus bonnairei was described from Batna, Algeria ( Hoffmann 1942). Examination of the holotype (MNHN) revealed it is a small Chiloneus species, having a strongly convex, broad, glabrous epistomal area and the postepistome is distinctly separated from the epifrons by a U-shaped carina, along with the scales of the body with strong metallic shine. A comparison with Brachysomus hirtus provided by A. Hoffmann indicates that similarity in small size, body shape, elytral vestiture and strongly convex eyes is due to convergence.
