Type material. Telemiades trenda Evans, 1953 was described based on the male holotype from interior of Suriname. The male holotype is deposited at the NHMUK and illustrated on Butterflies of America ( Warren et al. 2018) with the following labels: / Type H T [verso from the samel label:] trenda Evans / Interior Surinam Sept. 1892 C. W. Ellacombe./ [label with the genitalia attached]/ Rothschild Bequest B.M. 1939–1./ BMNH(E) 1236498/.
Diagnosis. FW length: males 16–17 mm (n=5) and females 16–19 mm (n=6). Telemiades trenda resembles the remaining species of the “ trenda group”, T. squanda and T. meris , but is distinguished by the asymmetrical valvae; left valva with distal projection developed; sacculus triangular, developed, occupying almost half of internal surface of valva.
Distribution. Telemiades trenda occurs in areas of Amazon Forest of low altitudes, with records in Peru, Suriname, and Brazil (Acre, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, and Maranhão states).
Taxonomic discussion. Telemiades trenda was described by Evans (1953). Despite the fact that it is externally similar to other species of the genus, the male genitalia reliably separate it from congeners.
