Fodigryllus bisetus He sp. nov. GGGG

Materials. Holotype: male, CHINA, Yunnan, Honghe, Lüchun, Huanglian Mountain National Nature Reserve (N 22.88 E 102.32), 12-vii-2021, coll. He Zhu-Qing.

Paratypes: 3 males, same data as for holotype .

Description. Male. Head: round and almost as wide as the pronotum ( Fig. 3A ); occiput round and convex, frontal rostrum almost twice wider than the antennal scape; eyes large but not convex, three ocelli disposed as triangle, lateral ocelli large and vertically oval, median ocelli smaller ( Fig. 3B ); maxillary palps with distal three segments elongated and fifth segment widened. Thorax: pronotum pubescent, slightly wider than length; forewing short with 3 oblique veins; mirror rounded and flattened with dividing vein not conspicuous; apical field nearly absent; external tympanum large and ovoid, internal tympanum absent ( Fig. 4A, B ); two long hairs on each foretibia, one extended outwards and one extended forwards ( Fig. 4C ). Hind tibia slightly shorter than hind femur, armed with 4 pairs of dorsal spurs; anal plate concave in the base ( Fig. 3C ); cercus little shorter than hind tibia.

Genitalia: Epiphallus possessing a notch in middle, the lateral lobes of epiphallus curved inwards and upwards, and narrower than ectoparamere in lateral view ( Fig. 5A–C ).

Female. Unknown.

Coloration. Body uniformly black with the base of hind tibiae reddish brown ( Fig. 2 ).

Measurements (in mm). Male: body length (from head to anus) 16.59–16.90, pronotum length 3.22–3.93, forewing length 9.26–9.68, hind femur length 11.57–12.13.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Natural history. This species digs tunnels on slopes beside a road, and males sing near the entrance at night as Tarbinskiellus and Gymnogryllus species. The hole is as broad as the specimen’s size, and two hairs probably touch the wall of its tunnel for detecting vibration.

Etymology. The species name bisetus refers to two filiform hairs on each foretibia.
