Uredinia amphigenous, scattered, irregularly circular or elongate, 0.3–0.7 mm diam, golden - yellow to yellow. Urediniospores globoid or obovoid-globoid, 22.5–32.0 × 16.5–24.0 μm (x = 26.5 × 19.5 μm, n = 50); walls 1.0–1.5 μm thick, finely verrucose or even echinulate-verrucose; with 2–4 equatorial pores.

Specimens examined:— China, Gansu Prov., on Cheilanthes chusana (Pteridaceae) , 11 August 2012, Y.M. Liang, BJFC-R00590.

Notes:— Hyalopsora neocheilanthis has been reported to be parasitic species of Cheilanthes ( C. pringlei ), Cryptogramma , Notholaena , Pellaea , and Pityrogramma in South Africa, central and western USA, Argentina, Chile, Pakistan and Ecuador ( Kuprevich & Transhel 1957, Hiratsuka 1958). In the present study, H. neocheilanthis was found in China on Cheilanthes chusana . This is a new geographical and host record for this species.
