Phallusia millari Kott, 1985, p. 66 View in CoL and synonymy.
Distribution
Previously recorded ( Kott 1985): western Australia (Montebello Is., Port Hedland , Dampier Archipelago, Shark Bay, Cape Kimberley, Cape Jaubert, Cockburn); Queensland (Heron Is. and north to Cape Weymouth); Northern Australia (Arafura Sea, Gulf of Carpentaria); Philippines, Singapore. New records: Station 171-018, Kulumburu, 13.46 S 124.02 E, 101 m, Beam trawl, 16.5.07, QM G328564 GoogleMaps ; Station 172- 032, Kulumburu, 13.47 S 124.01 E, 105 m, Beam trawl, 16.5.07, QM G328565 GoogleMaps .
The newly reported specimens are from deeper waters than previously recorded for this species. The presence, in this collection of only two specimens of this large, robust, readily recognized and often reported species is surprising.
Remarks
The species is readily recognized by its vertical habit, longitudinal test vessels parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body seen through the firm translucent test, recurved branchial siphon, antero-dorsal atrial siphon and the almost spherical holdfast of test mingled with sand and shell particles at the posterior end of the body ( Kott 1985).
