Figs. 1–7 View FIGURES 1 – 5 View FIGURES 6 – 7
Description. Male. Length from tip of head to end of wings 1.7–2.0 mm. General color, in alcohol, brown. Antennae each with 18 segments, and covered by short golden setae. Frontal area of head with pale yellowish setae. Dorsum of thorax with golden setae. Mesoscutellum divided by transverse suture. Metascutellum rectangular. Legs covered by short dark brown setae; tibial spur formula 0, 2, 3. Abdominal segment VII annular, with short posterior process on venter ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Segment VIII annular. Male genitalia. Segment IX reduced ventrally, dorsally with sclerotized hooks curved downward on posterolateral margin, anterolateral margins developed as thin rods extending through segment VII ( Figs. 1, 2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Segment X rectangular in dorsal view, and lobate in lateral view ( Figs. 2, 3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Inferior appendages each quadrangular in ventral view, with short round posterolateral projection and short projection on internal apical margin ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Subgenital plate, in ventral view, with short apicomesal incision, slightly projected posterolaterally, ventral process wide and strongly sclerotized, apex curved downward ( Figs. 1, 3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Phallus tubular, long, slender, apex divided into 2 lobes, depressed and truncate distally, ejaculatory duct protruding between lobes ( Figs. 4, 5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ).
Female. Length from tip of head to end of wings 1.8–2.0 mm. Antennae each with 17 segments. Coloration and overall features of head and thorax as in male. Abdominal segment VI with short posteromesal process on venter ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 7 ). Segment VII long and narrowing posteriorly ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 7 ). Female genitalia. Segment VIII rectangular in ventral view, with ring of setae on posterior margin, internally with pair of elongate apodemes originating at anterolateral margins and extending into segment VI ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 7 ). Segment IX short, posteroventral margin with slight mesal incision, and internally with pair of elongate lateral apodemes extending into segment VI ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 7 ). Segment X short and slightly conical, with pair of apical papillae ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 7 ). Bursa copulatrix widest at midlength, narrowing posteriorly, vaginal sclerite with keyhole structure anteriorly, and bearing several short spines with rounded apices ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 6 – 7 ).
Remarks. Flintiella manauara shares the presence of the dorsal spinal processes on male segment IX with F. boracea and F. astilla , but only in the new species and F. astilla are these processes hook-like. Flintiella manauara differs from F. astilla in the more quadrangular inferior appendages in ventral view, and by the phallus with apex divided. The structure of the phallic apex, which is deeply divided, links the new species with F. panamensis Harris et al. 2002 b, F. tamaulipasa Harris et al. 2002 b and F. yanamona Harris et al. 2002 b. Flintiella manauara can be separated from these species by the presence of the spinal processes on the dorsum of segment IX, by the shape of the inferior appendages, and by the distally wide apical lobes of the phallus.

Etymology. The epithet species name, manauara , refers to the municipality of Manaus, where the type series was collected. Manauara means “born in Manaus” in Brazilian Portuguese.
