Female. Head ( Figs 12, 13 View FIGURES 1 – 13 , 25 View FIGURES 14 – 25 ). Flagellum with 24 segments; face strongly produced forward, so the head in lateral view slightly longer than high; Face with a strong median longitudinal ridge, sparsely covered with rather long pubescence, socket of pubescence somewhat produced; pubescence along median ridge and inner orbit down-curved; clypeus strongly convex somewhat congruent with face; clypeus 2.0 x as wide as long, with apical margin very weakly rounded; eye bare, inner margin almost straight to very slightly convergent downward; ocelli of moderate size, eye remote from lateral ocellus by 1.1 x maximum diameter of the latter; mandible strongly tapered, with upper tooth much longer than lower, medially about 0.6–0.7 x as wide as basal; palpi formula 4: 3; malar space about 0.4 x basal width of mandible; vertex with inter-ocellar area moderately raised, long behind lateral ocelli; gena long, convex, with rather long pubescence laterally along occipital carina; outline of gena strongly rounded to almost straight in dorsal view; occipital carina complete throughout, in dorsal view weakly bowed forward mediodorsally.

Mesosoma . Pronotum ( Figs 37 View FIGURES 26 – 37 , 49 View FIGURES 38 – 49 ) with anterior margin weakly reflexed, mediodorsally produced into backwardly directed tooth, a dorsomedian bridge connects it with hind margin, lateral face polished, with rather distinct epomia; upper end of epomia rather remote from upper margin of pronotum and lower part extends downward to reach lower margin; mesoscutum moderately long, in front of scuto-scutellar groove 1.2–1.3 x as long as wide in dorsal view, almost bare and polished all over except a few minute pubescence, with distinct notauli almost straight and convergent to a shallow hollow located a little behind middle; moderately convex in lateral view; epicnemial carina of mesopleuron ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 50 – 61 ) weak, with upper end reaching to level of lower corner of pronotum and fading out; mesopleuron almost impunctate, bare and polished laterally, densely covered with pubescence ventrally, with shallow triangular depression below speculum and mesopleural suture not foveolate; scutellum strongly convex; propodeum ( Figs 73 View FIGURES 62 – 73 , 85 View FIGURES 74 – 85 ) with rather dense pubescence, its socket rather distinct; propodeum with areas basalis and superomedia, and areas posterialis and postero-externa fused respectively, carinae delimiting these combined areas distinct; lateromedian longitudinal carina subparallel slightly bowed outward, making fused area basalis + area superomedia elliptic; posterior transverse carina strongly bowed forward between lateral carinae; lateral longitudinal carina distinct, but rather week anteriorly; pleural carina complete; propodeal spiracle touching pleural carina; metapleuron ( Fig. 85 View FIGURES 74 – 85 ) almost impunctate with rather dense pubescence along dorsal margin; submetapleural carina complete, strong, weakly produced anteriorly;

Wings. Fore wing ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 86 – 97 ) with vein Rs+M basad of cu-a by the width of vein, 2rs-m about 0.2 x length of M between 2rs-m and 2m-cu or almost abbreviated; vein cu-a moderately inclined; vein Cu1a separated from 1m-cu by length of Cu1b. Hind wing ( Fig. 109 View FIGURES 98 – 109 ) with vein M+ Cu almost straight basally, moderately bowed apically; distal abscissa of Cu absent; vein cu-a weakly inclivous to vein 1A.

Legs. Fore femur 4.3–4.5 x as long as maximum width; hind femur 3.5–3.6 x as long as maximum width; hind tibia 7.2–8.4 x as long as apical width; tibial spur short; hind leg with first tarsal segment a little shorter than second and third segments combined, fifth segment as long as third.

Metasoma ( Fig. 121 View FIGURES 110 – 121 ). T1 smooth with dorsolateral longitudinal carina, with spiracle situated on the carina at anterior 0.35, with pair of posterolateral oblique impressions from the middle of the carina toward middle of the posterior margin, with dorsomedian longitudinal carinae extending to 0.8 of length and moderately convergent basally; T2 with distinct evenly bowed anterior transverse groove and pair of very sharply impressed posterolateral oblique grooves, defining a central, evenly convex area; anterior groove furnished with very short, rather dense longitudinal ridges; T3–5 similar to T2, with anterior groove more transverse, making the central areas blunt triangular; T6–7 lack distinct grooves; T1 1.5–1.6 x as long as apical width; T2 0.9–1.0 x as long as T1 and 1.2 x as long as apical width. Ovipositor rather long, projecting beyond apex of metasoma by 0.5 x length of hind tibia, almost straight, slightly up-curved apically; upper and lower valve slightly thickened medially, then evenly tapered to sharp point Lower valve not expanded ventrally at the base.

Coloration. Head mostly ivory, slightly tinged with brown, with flagellum, pedicel and scape above darker; vertex with median longitudinal dark brown band from antennal socket to occipital carina; the band narrowed at both anterior and posterior ends; gena with broad dark brown band along occipital carina above level of lower end of eye; this band strongly narrowed at level of upper end of eye and connected to median longitudinal dark band of vertex. Pronotum brown to dark brown, with lower margin and dorso-lateral corner ivory, with postero-ventral corner lamellate and translucent; mesoscutum ivory tinged with brown, median and lateral lobes broadly darkened medially; tegula and subtegular ridge ivory; mesopleuron obscurely darkened behind subtegular ridge; scutellum and postscutellum ivory; propodeum dark brown, pale brown below lateral longitudinal carina; metapleuron pale brown. Legs fulvous; coxa, trochanter and trochantellus whitish; basal 0.2 and apical 0.3 of hind tibia weakly darkened with median part ivory. Wings hyaline; pterostigma pale brown. Metasomal tergites dark brown to brown with median area of T2–5 yellowish; ovipositor and sheath brown.

Length. Fore wing 3.1–3.2 mm.

Male. Similar to female. Flagellum with 22 segments; face weakly produced forward, with median longitudinal ridge indistinct ventrally; gena rather long, not strongly convex in dorsal view unlike female. Legs slightly stouter than in female, with hind femur 3.8–4.1 x as long as maximum width and hind tibia 7.5– 8.1 x as long as apical width. Coloration same as in female.

Length. Fore wing 3.0 mm.

Variation. Little variation in size and coloration of body among type series.

Host. Unknown.

Biological notes. The type series were collected by a Malaise trap operated at the edge of the forest. Adult wasps were caught in June and from August to November suggesting there are more than one generation a year.

Comments. This species can be distinguished from any other species of the genus by forwardly bulged face with median longitudinal sharp carina of female. This unusual feature of this wasp makes it somewhat look like metopiines or orthocentrines. Unlike females, the face of males is not strongly bulged thus resembles elegans in having pale clypeus and face, but can be distinguished from it by long vertex which is gradually sloping down to occipital carina in lateral view and by longer central rhombic area of T2 which is almost as long as wide.

Etymology. The species is named after the local name of the type locality.

Distribution records. Japan: Ryukyus (Okinawa-jima).
