Tusothrips sumatrensis (Karny) View in CoL

Anaphothrips sumatrensis Karny 1925: 27 View in CoL .

Anaphothrips (Chaetanaphothrips) aureus Moulton 1936: 266 View in CoL . Mycterothrips pseudosetiprivus Ramakrishna and Margabandhu 1939: 42 View in CoL . Taeniothrips calopgomi Zhang 1981: 324 View in CoL . syn.n.

Tusothrips calopgomi ( Zhang 1981: 324) View in CoL . ( Palmer 1992: 7)

Described from China as an unusual species of Taeniothrips View in CoL without a comb of microtrichia on tergite VIII, calopgomi View in CoL was transferred subsequently to Tusothrips View in CoL by Palmer (1992: 7), based on the long mouth cone, and presence of craspeda on the posterior margins of the abdominal tergites and sternites. We have compared the type specimens of calopgomi View in CoL with T. sumatrensis View in CoL , and consider there is no distinction between them. The fore wing has a dark transverse marking, with the entire clavus equally dark.

Three species of Tusothrips View in CoL were listed from China by Mirab-balou et al. (2011: 732), but with T. aureus (Moulton) View in CoL and calopgomi Zhang View in CoL now considered synonyms of T. sumatrensis View in CoL only one species of this genus is now recorded from China.

Specimens examined. CHINA, Guangdong Province, Shipai, Guangzhou, holotype female of calopgomi View in CoL from Calopgomium endecaphylla , 1.i.1974, coll. Zhang Wei-qiu. (in SCAU).

Paratypes: 2 females collected with holotype, same data; Hainan Province, Sanya, 3 females from C. endecaphylla , 12.iii.1975, coll. Ren Peiyu. Further material. Guangdong Province, Chebaling National Nature Reserve, 2 females from Pueraria View in CoL sp., 24.iv.1989; Guangzhou, 1 female from Calopgomium sp., 24.iv.1989, coll. Tong Xiao-li.

Distribution. China (Yunnan, Guangdong, Hainan, Hunan); India to Indonesia, Philippines.
