Schoenobius terreus Zeller, 1877: 10 View in CoL comb.n.
Diagnosis. Very large species, restricted to Madagascar; valva rectangular, cornutus consisting of two strong hooks, one straight and one clearly bent. Venulae secundae slightly directed towards the median axis; rami tympani strongly sclerotized.
Description. Ground colour reddish brown, black spots on fore wing and black streak not clearly distinguishable.
Male genitalia. Much larger than any other species of the genus; valva rectangular, inner side with longitudinal folds; cornutus consisting of two strongly developed hooks: one straight, one bent.
Female genitalia. Papillae anales with numerous short setae, long setae sparse; intersegmental membrane with denticulate zone as in A. albescens ; transverse fold covered with minute spines as in A. typicota ; ostium bursae covered with minute spines; proximal part ductus bursae more sclerotized, narrow, immediately behind ductus seminalis widening into the elongated corpus bursae.
Tympanal organs. Venulae secundae converting to the median longitudinal axis; zona glabra tympani more sclerotized than the rest of the sternite, rami tympani almost straight, slightly bent, medially fused forming a plate-like structure.
