Description. Female. Fore wing length 3.5–4.0 mm.

Face medially 0.95 × as wide as high, 0.55 × as wide as head; face fairly sparsely punctate, shining, eyes with short, inconspicuous sparse setae, dorsal ridge of face inbetween antennal sockets without a median prominence; face profile gently curved, edge of clypeus impressed, margin straight, antennal sockets not on a distinct high shelf (Hw/Fp = 7.5); subocular sulcus slightly bent; maxillary palp very long, reaching back to mid coxae. In dorsal view, head posteriorly moderately concave, temples distinct, about 0.35 × eye width, posterior ocelli distant from eye by 1.1 × ocellar diameter, anterior ocellus separated from eye by 2.0 × ocellar diameter, ocellar-ocular grooves absent. Minimum distance between antennal sockets 0.6 × diameter of socket; antenna very long, distinctly longer than body, slender, with 35–39 (38 in holotype) thin, elongate flagellomeres which gradually shortening towards apex of antenna; basal flagellomere 5.0 × as long as wide and 1.2 × scape; scape slightly curved, in frontal view a little concave on lateral surface, convex on inner surface.

Mesosoma smooth, polished, impunctate except mesoscutum, some faint coriaceous/rugose microsculpture on propodeum; mesoscutum with dense, small punctures, lacking notauli; in profile, scutellum somewhat high, convex, metapleuron slightly convex; propodeum with posterior transverse carina strong and raised, present between lateral longitudinal carinae, median longitudinal carinae complete, lateral longitudinal carinae present posterior to spiracles, spiracles not particularly large.

Hind legs stout; coxae ventrally granulate, femora, tibiae and tarsi coriaceous-granulate except hind femur smooth on ventral surface; hind coxa 1.3 × as long as first tergite, hind femur 3.0 × as long as maximum depth, hind tibia 4.6 × as long as apical width; tibiae lacking spine-like setae. Spurs long and slender, inner spur of hind tibia twice longer than outer spur; inner spur of mid tibia as long as second tarsomere.

Wings not particularly narrow; fore wing with areolet closed, slightly wider than high, vein Rs bent; hind wing with nervellus intercepted, angulate.

First tergite somewhat elongate and apically widening, 1.5 × as long as apically wide; heavily foveolate-rugose with two complete, high median longitudinal carinae, with transverse impressions originating at about middle of tergite, sloping posteriorly, not meeting centrally. Second tergite 1.1 × as long as apically wide; heavily foveolaterugose with less conspicuous strigosity, with two indistinct, diverging median longitudinal carinae in proximal 2/3, and slight transverse impressions originating at about middle of tergite, sloping anteriorly and posteriorly, not meeting centrally; basal thyridia oval. Third tergite with foveolate-rugose sculpture, sculpture towards posterior edge smoother, slightly punctate, with transverse impressions originating at about middle of tergite, sloping anteriorly, not meeting centrally; basal thyridia not contrastingly coloured, narrow, oval/rectangular. Apical tergites slightly coriaceous. Ovipositor thin, straight, without notch; ovipositor sheaths short, concealed by large hypopygium.

Setae over whole body (including metasoma) except occiput, pronotum, mesopleuron, metapleuron, scattered on propodeum, dorsal sides of coxae and hind femora ventrally.

Flagellomeres dark brown, hardly paler basally; face, outer and inner orbits creamy, inner orbit creamy in broad stripe reaching behind posterior ocellus, frons, interocellar area, dorsal vertex/occiput brown, pronotum creamy ventrally and dorso-posteriorly, otherwise dark brown dorsally, mesopleuron creamy, dark brown dorsally, except subalar prominence; metapleuron dark brown; mesoscutum brown on lateral lobes and medially, anterior to scutellum, reddish brown antero-medially, with creamy stripes along antero-lateral margins and extending posteriorly as longitudinal stripes across length of mesoscutum, scutellum and postscutellum yellow, propodeum dark brown/ black; legs basically creamy, tibiae and tarsi yellow-brown, hind femur brown apically, yellow proximally, apex of hind coxa dorsally, broad basal and apical bands on hind tibia dark brown. Tergites dark brown to black, second tergite with apical triangle spot and apical half of third tergite creamy; fourth tergite with narrow light apical margin. Sternites whitish with yellow more sclerotized patches.

Male. Very similar to female.

Biology. Hosts unknown. All specimens were collected in oak forests at altitudes 900–1400 m.

Distribution. Mexico (Tamaulipas).

Etymology. Named after Dr Enrique Ruíz Cancino—well-known expert in Mexican Ichneumonidae , collected this species.

Comments. Compared with the other species that have long antennae, closed areolet in fore wing, second tergite anteriorly with paired median longitudinal carinae, and dark brown metapleuron, eyes densely setose and mesoscutum with white “shoulder-stripes” emanating from the antero-lateral edges of the mesoscutum, unlike in O. brevipilus . Morphologically very similar to O. albihumerus but differing in the apical 1/3 of tergite 2 and apical half of tergite 3 pale.
