Type locality. St Helena.
Vouchers. HEC 14871 (zF) and HEC 14872 (zF), 1 October 2001, Totor (s.s. 9) .
Ecology. On coral head surrounded by extremely silty bottom, 210 m.
Indian Ocean distribution. India ( P. feldmannii var. indica Balakrishnan and Chawla ), Rodrigues (this paper).
Note. Diagnostic characters of P. feldmannii include the subcylindrical, dichotomously branched thallus, the absence of gland cells, the three-celled carpogonial branch, the large amount of nutritive cells and the gonimoblast which arises from a connecting filament ( Kajimura, 1995).

Ecology. Epilithic on pebbles and coral fragments in gulleys between coral heads, or between branches of acroporid corals, between 5 and 15 m depth.

Note. We follow R. Norris (1992: 8) and Schils and Coppejans (2002: 261–265) in the opinion that T. pikeana and T. weberae Børgesen are both growth forms of the same species.
