Parish records (n = 222): East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Jefferson, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tensas, and West Feliciana Parishes (LSAM, MEM, TAMU).
Potential larval hosts in Louisiana: Aesculus pavia L., Carpinus caroliniana , Carya sp. , Fagus grandifolia , Gleditsia triacanthos , Ostrya virginiana , Quercus falcata (see Comments), Quercus prinoides , Quercus rubra , and Salix sp. Adults reported also on Acer saccharum , Diospyros virginiana , Juglans nigra , Quercus alba , Quercus imbricaria , Quercus marilandica , Quercus palustris , Quercus velutina , Ulmus americana , and Ulmus rubra .
Collection date range: 26 February–22 June, mostly (n = 19) in April. Many of these records are from rearing chambers, which likely are not representative of adult activity under natural conditions.
Comments: Collected at light, by beating’, branch bagging’, using boll weevil pheromone, flight intercept, and sticky traps, and by rearing from Quercus falcata , ‘hickory limbs’, ‘miscellaneous dead limbs’, and unspecified coarse, woody debris; also as C. fumipennis prey. This was the most abundant of 35 beetle species reared from Q. falcata twigs by Ferro et al. (2009).
