Nesticus cellulanus (Clerck 1757) View in CoL
Material examined.— Canada: Québec: SainteAnnedeBellevue [45°27’N, 73°57’W] 1Ψ, October 1958, no collector, ( CNC).
Diagnosis.— This species differs from other Nesticus by the bifid tip of the tegular apophysis, the presence of a long hookshaped process extending well beyond the cymbium [labeled in Huber (1993) as p6: process of the conductor] and the simple paracymbium. Females differ by the median septum greatly enlarged posteriorly and the oblique septal grooves.
Distribution.— According to Gertsch (1984), the species is introduced into North America. It is known on the East Coast of North America from Québec (this record) to Massachusetts.
Remark.— This species was included in Paquin & Dupérré (2003, figs 1958–1960) without comment. That mention was based on the record given here, which is also the northernmost for the species.
