Diagnosis. Forewing length is 14–15 mm in males and 15–17 mm in females. The forewing pattern of the species is similar to that of the B. nubifascia species-group, but the forewing ground color is bright pale yellow, the spots are reduced and the subterminal shadow is presented as a narrow diffuse curved band. The male genitalia is very similar to B. umbrifera , but differ by the broader distal costal process with a more arcuate dorsal margin, the basally broader claw-like ventral costal process directed ventrally (whereas in B. umbrifera the ventral costal process is almost straight and directed apically), and the larger cornuti in the carinal plate and the ventral subbasal diverticulum. The female genitalia differ clearly from those of two other species of the B. simplifascia speciesgroup and is more similar to those of the B. nubifascia species-group, from which it differs mainly by the antevaginal plate shape (see the diagnosis of the species-group).
Distribution. Northern and eastern India (north of West Bengal, Sikkim), Bhutan, China (Tibet).
Note. The species was treated as a synonym of B. nubifascia by Hampson (1900).
