Usually inhabits ponds overgrown with water lilies, often forming aggregations on floating leaves of aquatic vegetation or on the surface of standing waters ( Kanyukova 2006); zoophage; multivoltine; overwinter as eggs. West Palearctic.

Mesovelia thermalis Horvath

In permanent ponds and lakes, preferring those with surfaces completely overgrown with duckweed in the summer; also occurs in the quiet backwaters of lowland rivers with slow currents and warm water, associated with aquatic vegetation ( Kanyukova 2006); zoophage; multivoltine; overwinters in the egg stage. Mid-Tethys.
