Agnosthaetus brounides View in CoL species-group
This group comprises five species ( Agnosthaetus brounides Newton , A. chiasma , A. bisulciceps , Agnosthaetus rodmani Clarke , and A. cariniceps ) occurring in the western or southern regions of South Island. They share the distinctive chromosome- or zigzagged-shaped medial pronotal sulci ( Figs. 23 View Figs , 69–70 View Figs , ms), in combination with anteriorly bulging eyes ( Figs. 11 View Figs , 61–62 View Figs ), and in having the antennoocular carina of the head meeting the eye before the middle of the eye ( Figs. 11 View Figs , 61–62 View Figs , ao).
