Trechus (s.str.) subacuminatus A. FLEISCHER 1898 View in CoL
B u l g a r i a: Erma Gorge at the foots of the Rui Mountain, 685 m, 5 km N of Trân Town, 2.XII.2006 - 18.IV.2007, 1, S. Lazarov leg. (NMNHS).
First record for Bulgaria. Trechus subacuminatus is a quite rare and localized ground beetle. Together with T. austriacus DEJEAN 1831 and T. crucifer POICHARD DE LA BRÛLERIE 1876 , it is member of the " austriacus " group ( JEANNEL 1927). This species complex has limited distribution in the Eastern Mediterranean. T. acuminatus has been described from the Ossa Mountain (Central Greece) and after that recorded from Asian Turkey, Syria, the island of Kefalonia ( JEANNEL 1927), Central and South Greece (MORAVEC & ZIERIS 1998). The finding at Erma Gorge marks the northernmost known locality of the species. The only specimen was collected in MSS (underground) trap placed in limestone slope.
