Guttulina d’Orbigny 1839

Guttulina sp. cf. G. bartschi Cushman & Ozawa 1930 ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 :6, 7)

Remarks. Collected specimens have the broad, globular chambers that are diagnostic for this species. The aboral chambers are strongly inflated, have rounded peripheries with lightly depressed sutures and the chambers taper up to the aperture. The aperture consists of terminal, radial slit-like segments that are fused at their peak ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 :6, 7). Despite this similarlity to Guttulina bartschi Cushman & Ozawa 1930 , this taxon has only been tentatively assigned due to the damaged nature of the test and the small amount of material available. Additionally, some other recorded occurrences of this taxon illustrate a test with more chambers than the CG specimens (e.g. Hayward et al., 1999, pl. 7, fig. 8; Loeblich & Tappan, 1994, pl. 145, figs 5–15; Parker, 2009, figs 291a–c).

Distribution within study area. Guttulina sp. cf. G. bartschi only occurred in the channel sample between Heron and Wistari Reefs.
