Distribution in Iran. Alborz ( Borumand 1998 as Apion (Rhopalapion) longirostre ; Sanaei & Seiedy 2015, 2017),

Ardabil (Moderres Awal 1986 as Apion longirostre ), East Azarbaijan ( Modarres Awal 1997, 2012 as Apion longirostre ; Legalov et al. 2010; Nikdel 2015), Golestan, Mazandaran, West Azarbaijan ( Hoffmann 1968 as Apion longirostre ), Qazvin, Semnan, Tehran ( Borumand 1998 as Apion (Rhopalapion) longirostre ; Legalov et al. 2010; Modarres Awal 2012 as Apion longirostre ), Yazd ( Zare Khormizi et al. 2016), Northern provinces ( Modarres Awal 1997 as Apion longirostre ), Iran (no exact locality cited) ( Farahbakhsh 1961 as Apion longirostris ; Ter-Minassian 1972 as Apion longirostris ; Hayat et al. 2002; Mohammadi et al. 2012).

General distribution. Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, south European Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Tadzhikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and introduced in North America.

Plant associations in Iran. Hollyhock ( Alcea sp.) and other Malvaceae plants and sometimes on sainfoin ( Farahbakhsh 1961; Modarres Awal 1997, 2012), Malvaceae ( Sanaei & Seiedy 2017) , occasionally on sanfoin, Astragalus angustifolius Lam. , Astragalus shelkonikovii Grossh. (Fabaceae) (Nikdel 2015), Fabaceae ( Mohammadi et al. 2012) , Prunus scoparia Schneider (= Amygdalus scoparia Spach ) ( Rosaceae ) ( Zare Khormizi et al. 2016). Rhopalapion longirostre is strictly associated with Malvaceae . Quotations referring to plants belonging to other families are surely occasional or due to migrations.
