Scleropauropus simplex Remy, 1954 View in CoL
Scleropauropus (Scleropauropus) simplex Remy 1954 View in CoL . Annales du Musée royal du Congo Belge. Bruxelles, Tervuren, C- Zoologie, 1, 255–256, fig. 5.
Distribution. Known so far only from the Ivory Coast.
Some species listed above under Scleropauropus were originally placed in this genus (sensu stricto) because of incomplete knowledge or because of characters whose taxonomic value we do not know at present. At least some of them will probably be moved to other genera in the future. So e.g. have S. florentini , S. grassei , S. peniculifer and S. segrex 6 + 2 setae on the 6th tergite, a character not known in any other species treated here, S. segrex also 10 setae on 1st tegite. Other species not well fitting into Scleropauropus in the sense of Silvestri are S. caesariatus and S. tarumamirimi with both indistinct sclerotization of the tergites and scarcely lanceolate tergal setae. S. simplex too is weakly sclerotized and has a sternal antennal branch very alike that in Pauropus .
