Catops paramericanus was reported from New Brunswick and two sites on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia by Peck and Cook (2002). It is newly reported herein from the mainland of Nova Scotia ( Fig 10 View Fig ). It is an abundant and widespread species in boreal forests, primarily collected from animal carrion and occasionally from owl pellets, decaying fungi, and in forest litter ( Peck and Cook 2002).
