Genus distribution. East Atlantic Ocean: Bay of Biscay, Gibraltar Strait, Canary Islands, Mediterranean Sea, Indian Ocean: Glorieuses Island, West Pacific Ocean: South Japan, South China Sea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Kermadec Island, Recent–Pliocene, Italy.
As the main features of the genus Connexochiton View in CoL were not included in the original diagnosis, an emended diagnosis is provided below (see also discussion).
Emended diagnosis. Chiton small, elongate oval, front intermediate valves usually longer than posterior ones; hind edge of the intermediate valves noticeably turned down which makes lateral areas narrow, appearing strongly raised. Tegmentum sculptured with flattened or convex triangular granules slightly overlapping each other, quincuncially arranged. Each granule is connected to the four nearest granules by narrow jumpers forming a lacy pattern. Each granule with 9–11 aesthete pores, of which 5–7 are located in the main body of the granule and four are located at the top. Apophyses short, triangular, medially connected by a short jugal plate, without slits. Slit formula many/1/many. Girdle moderately narrow, dorsally covered with small, thin, short, strongly bent, regularly imbricating scales. Each scale dorsally with short longitudinal ribs or spherules or both. Radula with 52–102 rows of mature teeth; central tooth narrow with slightly widened base, usually with ribbed shaft; head of major lateral tooth unicuspid and sickle-shaped.
