Phortica (Phortica) monocaena Chen View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs 23–25 View FIGURES 23 – 25 )
Diagnosis. This species is similar to P. magna (Okada, 1960) from Japan and central China in the shape of paramere and the vertical process of gonopods without spines distally, but differs from it in having the surstylus triangularly protruded submedially ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ) and the ventral bridge of aedeagus with distally bifurcated process ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ).
Description. Frons black above, brown below, with a few thin, sparse interfrontal setae. Pedicel and first flagellomere grayish yellow. Face brown, with yellowish white patches on lower corners. Clypeus white medially, black laterally. Thorax orange brown, with black patches and pollinose pattern. Scutellum orange yellow, with brown patch medially. Legs yellow, dark brown on fore- and midleg femora, with 3 dark rings on each tibia. Abdominal first to fourth tergites yellow; second tergite with 2 blackish patches each side (submedially and laterally); third and fourth tergites each with broad, medially slightly protruded, black band on posterior margin and 1 yellow patch laterally each side; fifth and sixth tergites nearly entirely black; sixth tergite broadened at posterior corners of lateral margins, 1.2 times broader than its dorsomedian section (see Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 in Chen et al., 2007). Male terminalia: Epandrium lacking pubescence anteroventrally, with 7 setae on dorsal to posterolateral portion each side ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ). Surstylus lacking pubescence, with 1 very strong spine ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ). Additional plate between cerci and tenth sternite lacking pubescence ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ), Posterolateral lobe of hypandrium lacking pubescence ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ). Paramere devoid of pubescence and tooth but with 3 sensilla apically ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ). Aedeagal membranous tube with minute spinules medially ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 23 – 25 ).
