CHRYSOCTONUS Mathot, 1966 View in CoL View at ENA
( Figs 274–278 View FIGURES 274, 275 View FIGURES 276–278 )
Chrysoctonus Mathot, 1966: 224 View in CoL . Type species: Chrysoctonus apterus Mathot, 1966 View in CoL , by monotypy.
Myrmecomymar Yoshimoto, 1990: 28 View in CoL . Type species: Myrmecomymar masneri Yoshimoto, 1990 View in CoL , by original designation. Synonymy by Huber & Triapitsyn, 2015: 80.
Diagnosis. Body length 425–675 μm (females); 365–605 (males). Wingless ( Figs 274 View FIGURES 274, 275 , 276 View FIGURES 276–278 ); ocelli absent ( Fig. 276b View FIGURES 276–278 ); metasoma short, higher than wide, with pronotum, mesoscutum and scutellum all about equal in length, with an almost 90° angle between mesoscutum and scutellum, and scutellum almost in line with propodeum ( Figs 274 View FIGURES 274, 275 , 276 View FIGURES 276–278 ). Male fully winged, with venation extending almost 0.6× fore wing length ( Fig. 275 View FIGURES 274, 275 ); flagellum with each funicle segment several times as long as wide ( Fig. 278 View FIGURES 276–278 ).
Discussion. Among genera with 5-segmented tarsi, Chrysoctonus appears to be most closely related to Arescon , which also has a long fore wing venation. Unlike Arescon , and most other Mymaridae , the number of funicle segments in females is variable, ranging from four to eight but usually five in Nearctic species.
