Stopractinca Khan, Ahmad and Jairajpuri, 1994
With general structures of the “ Paractinolaimus ” genus group. Additional characters are as follows. Body ranging in length between 2.3 and 3.3 mm. Lip region narrow, more or less offset. Labial chamber distinct, wider than buccal chamber, the latter not or slightly ribbed, without denticles. Stylet chamber roomy, globular and thick-walled. Each onchium with double apex. Odontostyle 1.2–1.9 times as long as labial width. Pharynx enlarged near its middle. Vulval region with small papillae. Ventromedial supplements 18–31, contiguous or densely arranged. Female tail 5–8 anal body widths long, generally slightly dorsally bent (see also Table 3).
Type species. Stopractinca orientalis Khan, Ahmad and Jairajpuri, 1994 .
This genus is characterized by the dual apex of onchia, presence of advulval papillae and, especially, by the high number of contiguous (or almost contiguous) supplements.
The following six species probably belong to this genus.
Stopractinca cyatholaimus ( Daday, 1905) comb. nov.
Dorylaimus cyatholaimus Daday, 1905
Actinolaimus cyatholaimus ( Daday, 1905) Steiner, 1916
Egtitus cyatholaimus ( Daday, 1905) Thorne, 1967
Neoactinolaimus cyatholaimus ( Daday, 1905) Heyns and Argo, 1969
Stopractinca futai Khan, Tanaka and Yoshiga, 2008
Stopractinca glandula Khan, Park and Choi, 1999
Stopractinca kyotoensis Khan and Araki, 2001
Stopractinca malnadensis Dhanam, Jairajpuri and Khan, 1994
Stopractinca orientalis Khan, Ahmad and Jairajpuri, 1994
Further nominal species of Stopractinca
Stopractinca peteri Khan, Tanaka and Yoshiga, 2008 . This species was described from male specimens from Japan. In having a lower number of supplements (12–13 versus 18–31 in other Stopractinca species ) it rather seems to belong to the genus Egtitus (see there).
The representatives of Stopractinca predominantly inhabit Asia where they have been observed in India, Korea and Japan. One of the species was recorded from South America ( Paraguay).
In Stopractinca , both sexes are known only in half of the species, whereas in two species the female and in one the male is unknown. Therefore, a useful key to their identification cannot be compiled.
