Key to the species of Omalaspis

1. Scutellar foveae large, rounded, smooth and shiny; scutellar disc coriaceous, with some rugose sculpture ( Fig 3a View FIGURE 3 ). Posterior vertex weakly rugose. Mesoscutum with faint transverse carinae between antero-admedian lines ( Fig 3a View FIGURE 3 )................................................................................................ O. orientalis Belizin, 1968

- Scutellar foveae variable in length and shape, rarely completely smooth (only in some brandaoi specimens), scutellar disc from very weakly rugose or carinate to strongly rugose ( Figs. 7a View FIGURE 7 , 9a View FIGURE 9 & 11a View FIGURE 11 ). Posterior vertex coriaceous or with thin transverse carinae. Mesoscutum coriaceous, sometimes punctuate, in O. cavroi with faint transverse carinae between antero-admedian lines, but in this species the scutellar foveae have longitudinal carinae inside....................................... 2

2. Interfoveal line short, weak, not well defined, only reaching first 1/4 of scutellar disc ( Figs. 5a & 5b View FIGURE 5 )................... 3

- Interfoveal line longer, conspicuous, well defined, reaching last 1/2 or 1/3 of scutellar disc ( Figs. 7a View FIGURE 7 , 9a & 9b View FIGURE 9 )............ 4

3. Scutellar foveae rounded, narrow. Scutellar disc coarsely rugose, without microsculpture. Scutellum widening posterior to scutellar foveae ( Fig 5b View FIGURE 5 )............................................. O. gibsoni Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp.

- Scutellar foveae oval laterally, wide. Scutellum rectangular, not widening posterior to scutellar foveae. Scutellar disc weakly rugose and with noticeable coriaceous microsculpture ( Fig 5a View FIGURE 5 ). .............……….... O. asiatica Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp.

4. Scutellar disc with longitudinal carinae on each side of interfoveal line, sometimes very weak ( Figs. 7a & 7b View FIGURE 7 ). Mesopleuron alutaceous........................................................................................... 5

- Scutellar disc rugose or with transverse carinae ( Figs 3b View FIGURE 3 , 9a, 9b View FIGURE 9 , 11a & 11b View FIGURE 11 ). Mesopleura smooth...................... 6

5. Scutellar disc of uniform width. Scutellar foveae with scarce and weak longitudinal carinae. Median ridge very strong between antero-admedian lines. Notauli with transverse carinae ( Fig 7a View FIGURE 7 )................................ O. norica Giraud, 1860

- Scutellar disc narrowing posteriorly. Scutellar foveae with abundant and strong longitudinal carinae. Median ridge very weak. Notauli coriaceous and with transverse carinae. ( Fig 7b View FIGURE 7 )................. O. villemantae Pujade-Villar & Ros-Farré n. sp.

6. Parascutal sulcus with transverse carinae. Scutellar disc at the same level as the lateral margins of scutellum ( Fig 9b View FIGURE 9 )........................................................................ O. niponica Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp.

- Parascutal sulcus smooth. Scutellar disc depressed, lateral margins of scutellum projected compared with the level of scutellar disc surface ( Figs. 3b View FIGURE 3 , 9a View FIGURE 9 11a & 11b View FIGURE 11 )...................................................................... 7

7. Scutellar foveae strongly rugose ( Fig 9a View FIGURE 9 ). Interfoveal line projected, curved upwards (seen in lateral view, Fig 10a View FIGURE 10 ). Posterior margin of scutellum incised ( Fig 9a View FIGURE 9 )................................. O. curvilineata Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp.

- Scutellar foveae slightly rugose ( Fig 3b View FIGURE 3 ) or nearly smooth ( Figs. 11a & 11b View FIGURE 11 ). Interfoveal line straight (seen in lateral view, Figs. 4b View FIGURE 4 & 12b View FIGURE 12 ). Posterior margin of scutellum never incised ( Figs 3b View FIGURE 3 , 11a & 11b View FIGURE 11 )................................... 8

8. Frons weakly rugose ( Fig 1a View FIGURE 1 ). Median ridge very strong, sculpture between antero- admedian lines transversally carinate or granulate. Scutellar foveae slightly rugose, glabrous ( Fig 3b View FIGURE 3 ). Propodeum with oblique carinae..... O. cavroi ( Hedicke, 1914)

- Frons coriaceous, sometimes with faint longitudinal carinae ( Figs. 1d & 1e View FIGURE 1 ). Median ridge present between anterio-admedian lines absent or weak posteriorly. Scutellar foveae almost smooth, with scarce pubescence ( Figs 11a & 11b View FIGURE 11 ). Propodeum smooth ( Fig 2c View FIGURE 2 )....................................................................................... 9

9. Supratorular impression large and conspicuous ( Fig 1d View FIGURE 1 ). Dorsal margin of pronotal plate convex or straight. Interfoveal carina curved downwards between scutellar foveae, not observed in lateral view. Lateral margins of scutellar disc nearly straight, posterior margin wide. Scutellar disc with irregular and short transverse carinae ( Fig 11b View FIGURE 11 )................................................................................................ O. brandaoi Pujade-Villar & Ros-Farré n. sp.

- Supratorular impression reduced ( Fig 1e View FIGURE 1 ). Dorsal margin of pronotal plate concave. Interfoveal carina straight between scutellar foveae, visible in lateral view. Lateral margins of scutellar disc confluent posteriorly, posterior margin narrow. Scutellar disc granulate to rugose with scarce and small transverse carinae ( Fig 11a View FIGURE 11 ).................... O. latreillii ( Hartig, 1840)
