(fig. 7A)
Sertularia tumida Allman, 1877: 23 View in CoL , pl. 16 figs 3–4.
Tridentata tumida View in CoL — Calder, 1991d: 109, figs 58–59.
Sertularia turbinata View in CoL — Vervoort & Vasseur, 1977: 60, figs 26–27 [not S. turbinata ( Lamouroux, 1816) View in CoL ].
Material examined. Stn. 7: 25.03.2008 —a few sterile stems, 3–5 mm high, on green alga; 27.03.2008 – a few sterile colonies, up to 4 mm high, on Dictyota sp.
Type locality. Tortugas, Florida, United States.
Remarks. For an accurate description of the trophosome of S. tumida , see Calder (1991d), who also provided comments on its synonymy. The present material is exclusively composed of small, unbranched stems. Branched colonies were described from Bermuda by Calder (1991d).
Distribution. Circumglobal ( Calder 1991d).
