Material examined. Stn. 2: 22.01.2008 —numerous sterile and fertile colonies, up to 10 cm high, on hard substrate. Stn. 3: 26.01.2008 – several colonies, up to 10 cm high, gonophores present, on hard substrate and sponges; 01.04.2008 —several stems with and without gonophores, 2–3 cm high, on hard substrate. Stn. 4: 22.03.2008 —a few sterile stems, up to 1.7 cm high, badly preserved, on ascidian. Stn. 6: 23.03.2008 —numerous colonies, up to 8 cm high, some with gonophores, on hard substrate. Stn. 7: 27.03.2008 —numerous fertile colonies, up to 6 cm high, on hard substrate.

Type locality. Gulf of Naples, Italy.

Distribution. Circumglobal in warm temperate to tropical waters (Schuchert 2006). The Caribbean records are summarized by Calder & Kirkendale (2005).
