Type-species: Chuntiania scutiseta Xue View in CoL , sp. nov.
Diagnosis. The upper inner facets distinctly bigger than lower outer facets. Katepisternal seta 1+(2-3); anepimeron, katepimeron and meron bare. M vein straight; the apical of subcosta are not curved and relatively straight. Based on the previous characteristics, the genus of Chuntiania is similar to Potamia, but differs from the latter by the frontal seta distributed in the lower half of frons, never upwards near the ocellar triangle; the distal half of the frons bare and orbital seta absent; prosternum bare; posterior dorsocentral seta 3-4; pra absent; posterodorsal surface of hind coxa bare; apical femur without teeth or spurs; hind tibia without posterodorsal seta; distal part of posterior cercus without lateral or interior protuberance, the distal part become narrow and tonguelike ( Figure 1 View FIGURE 1 ); the surstylus is elongated and narrow in the middle, 4 or 8 times its length at its narrowest point (in Potamia is at most 2.5 times as wide as long); and Chuntiania has no postgonite.
Etymology. The generic name Chuntiania is after Prof. Chuntian Zhang, in honour of his contributions to entomology.
