Homoneura (Homoneura) nigritarsis View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 11 , 37–41 View FIGURES 37 – 41 )
Diagnosis. Face pale yellow without spot. Antenna blackish brown except scape yellow and 1st flagellomere with a pale yellow basal spot on ventral 1/2. Mesoscutum with two narrow brownish median stripes along dc rows. Hind tibia with a brown basal spot on inner side. Wing with a pale brown stripe–like spot on dm-cu. Abdomen yellow, tergite 2 with a blackish brown posterior band, tergites 3–5 each with a triangular median spot confluent with a blackish brown posterior band, and tergite 6 with a blackish brown median spot.
Description. MALE. Body length 4.6 mm, wing length 4.3 mm.
Head yellow. Face pale yellow without spot. Frons slightly pale brown, about as long as wide and parallel–sided, with two narrow brown stripes along inner margin of or rows, extending to ocellar triangle; ocellar triangle grayish black; oc strong, longer than anterior or, posterior or absent. Occiput with a wide grayish black stripe confluent with ocellar triangle. Gena about 1/5 height of eye. Antenna blackish brown except scape yellow and 1st flagellomere pale brown with a pale yellow basal spot on ventral 1/2, 1st flagellomere 2.0 times longer than high; arista long plumose, black except brownish base, with longest hairs longer than height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis yellow except brownish black at tip, with yellowish hairs and blackish hairs; palpus yellow with blackish hairs.
Thorax brown with whitish gray pollen. Mesoscutum with two narrow brownish stripes along dc rows, with 0+3 dc (anterior dc clearly behind transverse scutal suture), acr in 8 somewhat irregular rows; prsc as long as 1st post–sutural dc. Anepisternum pale yellow with a large brown median spot and katepisternum yellow without spot, both with whitish gray pollen. Scutellum brownish black except yellow apical margin, with white gray pollen. Legs pale yellow, except tarsomere 5 entirely black; hind tibia with an incomplete brown basal ring. Fore femur with 4 strong pv and 5–6 pd, ctenidium with 12 short bristles; fore tibia with 1 long preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 5 a and 1 apv; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 3 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 weak preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 11 ) hyaline, with a pale brown stripe–like spot on dm-cu; subcostal cell hyaline; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 2.2 mm: 0.7 mm: 0.4 mm; r-m before middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1.4 mm: 1.8 mm; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/6 of penultimate. Halter pale yellow.
Abdomen yellow with sparse silvery white pollen; tergites 2 with a blackish brown posterior band; tergites 3–5 each with a blackish brown transverse posterior band, and a brown triangular median spot confluent with the blackish brown transverse posterior band; tergite 6 with a blackish brown median spot. Male genitalia ( Figs. 37–41 View FIGURES 37 – 41 ): protandrium circular; epandrium nearly V–shaped with short hairs on dorsoapical corner in ventral view, surstylus with a stick–like process, slightly curved and narrow apically, originated from apical part of epandrium at middle; hypandrium with a small ventral process, gonopod columniform, contorted; aedeagus with a pair of curved subuliform processes, a pair of acuate lateral processes and a pair of dorsal teeth on triangular dorsal sclerites, and with a small apical incision in ventral view.
FEMALE. Unknown.
Type material. Holotype 3 ( CAUC), CHINA, Hainan Province: Jianfengling National Nature Reserve, Tianchi (800 m), 18. V. 2006, Hui Dong.
Distribution. China (Hainan).
Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to Homoneura (Homoneura) apicomata sp. nov. from China (Hainan) in the following characters: face pale yellow without spot, antenna bicolor, wing with a pale brown stripe on dm-cu, tergites 3–5 each with a triangular median spot confluent with blackish brown posterior band; surstylus with a stick–like process, slightly curved and narrow apically. But it can be separated from the latter by the abdominal tergite 6 having a blackish brown median spot, the hypandrium having a small ventral process, the aedeagus being consisting of a pair of curved subuliform processes, a pair of acuate lateral processes and a pair of dorsal teeth on dorsal sclerites. In H. (H.) apicomata , the abdominal tergite 6 has no blackish brown median spot; the hypandrium has a pair of short bar–like ventral process and the aedeagus has a pair of dorsoapical teeth without any other processes.
Etymology. Latin, nigr-, prefix meaning black + tarsis, meaning tarsus, referring to the tarsomere 5 being black; a noun in apposition.
