Stylogaster macrura Lopes, 1938: 403 . Type locality: Brazil, São Paulo, Campos do Jordão, Eng. Lefèvre, 1200m.

This species is known only by females, which can easily be distinguished by the long “ovipositor” which is at least three times as long as the abdomen. It was previously known from only three specimens from municipalities of the São Paulo and Santa Catarina states in the Southeast and South regions of Brazil, respectively ( Camras & Parrillo, 1985). In contrast, the new records are from the Caatinga, a much warmer and dryer biome than the previously known records at high altitude subtropical forests with lower average temperature, indicating that the species has a broader distribution and a greater ecological plasticity. The identification was confirmed by comparison with the female holotype.
